What Is ASSIST?

ASSIST helps families of children with disabilities by offering support, resources, and tools that schools and medical providers often don’t provide. We are here to guide you through challenges and connect you to what your child needs to thrive.

What Do Our Services Look Like?

When you work with ASSIST, here’s what you can expect:

  • Personalized Consultations – One-on-one meetings (virtual or in-person) to talk through your child’s needs and identify solutions that work for your family.
  • Support at Meetings & Appointments – Need help navigating a school IEP meeting or medical appointment? We can attend with you (virtually or in person) to provide support and help you advocate for your child.
  • Resource Matching & Referrals – We’ll connect you with local and online services, specialists, and programs that fit your child’s situation.
  • Help Getting Adaptive Equipment – In some cases, we can provide sensory items, low-tech communication tools, fidgets, visual timers, and other items. We can also help find and request things like high-tech AAC devices, adaptive and supportive equipment, and more.
  • Workshops & Educational Events – Get practical strategies and real-world knowledge through our community events and trainings.
  • Ongoing Check-ins & Support – Once you’re working with us, you’ll have access to follow-up meetings, resource updates, and help adjusting your plan if things change.

We offer services in 90-day blocks, tailored to your family’s priorities. Our services are highly customizable and adaptable – our role in the community is to make your life easier (not harder!), and provide support for your child’s success.

What You Do Not Get from ASSIST

We are here to support, guide, and connect—but we are not a replacement for licensed professionals or hands-on service providers. That means:

  • We do not diagnose medical or developmental conditions
    • We do help explain these conditions when you have questions, provide guidance on interventions and services, and accompany you to medical appointments for support.
  • We do not provide therapy (OT, PT, ABA, speech, etc.)
    • We do help implement techniques from your therapists, provide tips and tricks while you’re waiting for services, and accompany you to those appointments for help, guidance, and advocacy.
  • We do not provide medical treatment or medication advice
    • We do accompany you to appointments to provide support, and we can also help connect you to providers that may meet your needs.
  • We do not offer transportation or direct care
    • We do meet you virtually, in the community, or in your home.
  • We do not make decisions for families—we empower you to make informed choices.

We do walk beside you, answer your questions, and help you move forward with confidence.
